But their snooping could gain them the unwanted attention from the Hallen brothers, Carlisle and Jessop, who run the criminal underworld in town. Tallulah and Penelope must tread carefully or risk falling into something they won't be able to recover from.

After Coffee Bean, Tallulah's coffee shop, buzzed with rumors about the upcoming wedding of two outsiders, there was no keeping her and Penelope away. It’s now up to the two amateur sleuths to save the groom. However, nothing is ever as it seems, and before they know it, they are once again dipping their toes into the criminal underworld that the residents of Sugar Briar only whisper about.

As they delved deeper into the goings-on in the town, they discovered a web of secrets that threatened to unravel their own lives. With each clue they uncovered, the danger seemed to grow more palpable.
The Hallen brothers were involved, and with Tallulah refusing to talk to Carlisle, the answers the sleuthing duo needed were harder to come by.
Meanwhile, Aiden, Penelope's soon-to-be ex-husband, lurked in the background, waiting for his chance to get Penelope alone.

Tallulah was determined to find out what was going on with her sidekick, Penelope. After all, amateur sleuthing wasn't particularly thrilling without her. It didn't help that Penelope's soon-to-be ex-husband was wreaking havoc from prison, and what exactly was Carlisle Hallen's part in all of that?
Meanwhile, strange things were happening to Tallulah, which seemed to come to light when a new investigator arrived in town. What was that about?
Then there was the issue of two million dollars.
